On saturday a slightly depleted ( some unfortunately injured in the last 2 weeks ) travelled to Falkirk for the highlight of the winter season the national cross country championships , many making there first appearance at this level and with record amount of entries for all the races competition was going to be tough.
First up in the under 13 boys was Andrew Baird who ran a good race to finish in the top half of the field with a time off 14.24 for the 3200mtrs hilly course
Next was the under13 girls lead by Jennifer Murray who finished just outside the top 20 ( in a field off nearly 200) in 22nd she was brilliantly backed up by Ava Heron 91st ,Elidh Ballantyne ,119th and Kirstyn Park 148th
In the under 15 boys Aiden Hessett ran a solid race to finish well inside the top 50 ( due to a problem with his timing chip his exact placings and time were not recorded)
Next in under 15 girls race both Molly Murray( 19.30)and Leonnie Mccutcheon (19.58) both ran well to finish well inside the top half off the field
In the under 17boys both Tom Nichol (28.46) and Jamie Nix (30.33) both a quitted themselves over the challenging distance off 6400mtrs
All in all a good day was had by all and a great learning experience for these young athletes, to compete at national championship level
