Youngsters do well at Grangemouth

Kilmarnock Harrier - News & Events

Two Kilmarnock Harriers juniors, Cara Bailie and Evie Bartl, enjoyed a well attended first open graded meeting at Grangemouth, National Indoor Arena. Both girls have recently moved up a higher age group (U15) but got quickly accomplished with throwing a heavier implement (3.25kg) in the shot put and hurdling over a higher hurdle height. Cara threw the heavier shot 7.28m, which was not far off from her previous PB and Evie achieved 7.86m, over 60cm further what she threw at the indoor league match in November.

Both girls run comfortably the 60m hurdles below 12 seconds. The young athletes concluded their meeting with an excellent high jump competition, where Cara jumped 1.35m clearing all heights at first attempt and Evie equalled her PB of 1.30m for the second time. Both girls made good attempts at their respective higher heights and only narrowly failed, suggesting that 1.40m and 1.35m are realistic targets for Cara and Evie in the very near future.

Their coach Harald gave himself a nice birthday present by jumping 1.50m in the high jump, a height he has been able to achieve every season during the last 4 years since starting high jumping as a master in the age group M50.
