Young Harriers mix it with the best at National Cross Country Relays

On Saturday a number of young athletes ( several having their first experience off a National Championship event ) travelled to Cumbernauld for theabove event. First up was the girls relay Harriers having 5 under 13 on the start line. At the end off the first leg the course announcer proclaimed ” IN FIRST POSITION ” KILMARNOCK HARRIERS thanks to a tremendous  performance by Jen Murray, also performing admirably on the opening leg were Victoria McDowall , Lottie Lambert,  Eilidh Ballantyne and Amy Anderson. The second leg was then taken up by the under 15 where Molly Murray,  Leonnie MccCutcheon,  Ava Heron and Phoebe McCutcheon all ran outstandingly well.  With no under 17 available  Isla Neilson , Laura Jedrusiak and Erin Pastulovic stepped up an age group and all ran very well against older girls.

Next up was the boys race ,with 3 under 13 lining up , Jonathan Downey , Luke Baird and Max Jenner who all ran extremely well handing over to under 15 ( we were only able to field 2 athletes ) Jonny Houson and Ryan Littlejohn who both picked off several teams and moved the teams well up the field.   As with the girls we had no under 17 so again 2 under 15 boys moved up an age group Bruce Holden and Aidan Jenner both performing admirably against some quality opposition.

So in summary some outstanding team and individual performances from the young athletes who all enjoyed there day and represented the club with distiction.
