Winter Season has started – George Cummings Relays

The clubs senior winter season kicked off with the George Cummings Relays, which took place on Saturday 5th October in Houston. 13 men and 8 women made up the teams representing Kilmarnock on the 2.7mile undulating course.

A huge congratulations to the womens A team consisting of Kara Tait, Laura Haggarty and Lorna Baird, who picked up the prize for 2nd womens team. Great to have Kara Tait back in her Killie vest again and great to have Lorna in her debut for the club.

The mens A team also did incredibly well coming in 5th men’s team, consisting of Richard Mair, Scott Masterton, David McLure and Martin Brown.

Well done everyone, great running from all.

Last date for entries for the Nationals is 10/10 so get your name in to club captains before its too late. All events can be found on the website .

Also over the weekend there were a couple of other races on. The Ayr Classic 5 mile race took place at Ayr Racecourse on Sunday 6th October. 6 Harriers took on this very wet course with a great run from Martin Brown finishing second overall.

Most of these runners competed in an event the previous day with Jacqui and Gordon Sandler running in the 20k tweed valley tunnel trail run.

The Bonnet Toun 10k also took place on the 6th Oct, so well done to anyone that competed in that and the juniors that took on the 2.5k.
