Winter Points Winners Announcement

The winter season has now come to an end, slightly earlier than originally planned to ensure that we
could celebrate successes at the awards night in a few weeks! As already stated, national 4/6 stage
relays will now count towards summer points (full details of league races to follow soon!). It has
been a really busy winter and we have really seen ALL of the weather at various events around the
country, and as usual our Harriers have done the club proud.

As outlined at the start of the season, points for each athlete’s 8 best (maximum) events were
considered, with a minimum of 5 events completed being required to be eligible for age group prizes
(at least 1 of which must be a XC event). We had a total of 27 senior and U20 ladies and 40 senior
and 7 U20 men scoring at least 1 point throughout the season – it’s great to see so many club
members out there competing.

Now the part you have all been waiting for – our well deserving winners!

Starting with the ladies, our winner for the 2023/4 Winter League is Amanda Bryden finishing on 88
counting points (104 in total). In second place was Bethany Ross with 67 points, and third place was
Lynsey O’Connor with 38 points. Unfortunately there were no further age group awards as the
minimum of 5 events was not reached by otherwise eligible athletes. For the U20 ladies it was a win
for Izzy Caufield who finished on 98 counting points (119 in total) and second was Sasha I’Anson with
59 points.

For the men, it was super tight at the top but in the end with the top 8 to score it was Craig Ferguson
who took the win with 100 counting points (121 in total). With a whopping 124 points but 87 to
count for the prizes, Nick Carter was a well deserved 2 nd place. Rounding up our top 3 men was
Murray McDonald with 64 points. In the winter league we only had one eligible age group winner
and that was David Anderson (V50) with 39 points across the qualifying number of events. For the
U20 men, Jonathon Downey was the clear winner with 100 counting points (134 in total), with Jamie
Phillips claiming 2 nd spot with 33 points and Connor Scobie in 3 rd with 29 points.
