Valley Dash Results

A bright and breezy spring evening saw 44 athletes take on the the first club handicap of the year – The Valley Dash – a challenging 7.25 kilometre  circuit, featuring a combination of road, hill and trail racing.

The hill section of the course pretty much begins from the start, which some runners struggle with, not having the benefit of a chance to warm up. However, this did not worry this years winner Darren Ridout who out performed the handicappers projection by over 4.5 minutes and showed a dramatic improvement on his Troon 10K form.

Second home was Nicola Collins, over 3 minutes faster than last year. Finishing strongly behind Nicola was Mark Alexander no doubt wishing there was a further kilometer to go.

As per usual, the handicaps caused a great deal of banter, a fair spattering of light-hearted moaning and one or two smirks :- Jackie McConnell……. you were right! Stephanie Dale….would it help if I said you looked that fast!

Thankfully, Emy Dodds spared the handicappers blushes by finishing bang on her projected time – the equivalent of a hole in one!

Fastest man on the night, despite still recovering from Goatfell,  was Cameron Wilson in an impressive net 25:11. First woman home was Kara Tait.
