Valley Dash Results 2016

Overcast skies and torrential rain saw 32 intrepid athletes take on the the first club handicap of the year – The Valley Dash – a challenging 7.25 kilometre  circuit, featuring a combination of road, hill and trail racing.

The hill section of the course pretty much begins from the start, which some runners struggle with, not having the benefit of a chance to warm up, and believe me warming up was difficult tonight! However, this did not worry this years winner Gordon Sandler who out performed the handicappers projection by over 5 minutes and astounded his coach.

Second home was Stewart McRoberts, only 14 seconds slower than last year despite the adverse conditions. Finishing strongly behind Stewart was Jacqueline McConnel in a spirited third place.

As per usual, the handicaps caused a great deal of banter, a fair spattering of light-hearted moaning and one or two smirks :- Sorry Holly, one of us had a bad night. Mark McGregor you have to remember that only Kenny Wales wins prizes every year!!

Thankfully, Russell Duncan spared the handicappers blushes by finishing in 1 second of his projected time.

Fastest man on the night was Gordon Reid and fastest woman home was Laura Haggerty. Hopefully these guys can take this form into the Roon the Toon 10K and secure team wins for both male and female Killie teams.

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make it a successful night – despite the rain.
