The weekends Road Race Results from 12-13th July.

GIRVAN HALF MARATHON

A number of Kilmarnock athletes took part in Sundays Girvan Half Marathon and all fared well on what is widely known as a tough 13.1 mile course.

In decent, but humid conditions, at the sharp end of the field it was Kerry Wilson of Cambuslang who took the honours in a time of 1.13.18 but hovering in and around the top ten were Harriers Connell Drummond, Stuart Murdoch and Robert Lindsay who took almost 2 minute off of his previous lifetime best.

It was also fantastic to see a few members of the Club 6 o’clock group competing after building up from a number of long Sunday Runs recently and Tracy McCabe, Ann Minto and Anne Graham can be rightly proud of completing such a tough course in highly decent times.

Kilmarnock Results were –

9th Connell Drummond 1.22.08, 10th Stuart Murdoch 1.23.33, 11th Robert Lindsay 1.23.59, 14th David White 1.25.29, 24th Mark Alexander 1.29.51, 55th Stuart McAllister 1.40.01, 107th Tracy McCabe 1.58.38, 110th Ann Minto 2.01.50, 117th Anne Graham 2.16.21

Well done to all, and the next Race in the Kilmarnock Harriers Road Racing Championships is at the Irvine 5 Miler on Monday night and a large number of members will be taking part at that.

Next, but by no means least, Kilmarnock Harrier Kara Tait travelled to Newcastle on Sunday to compete in the Bupa Great North 10k.

Joining thousands of other athletes, Kara lined up as an Elite athlete for the first time in the UK and had yet another great run to finish in 35th position and even more impressively as 7th female overall.

Although a bit outside of Kara’s pb for the distance, her time of 37.11 was another very consistent race and she can be rightly proud of the weekends efforts.
