Summer Points Winners Announcement

Summer marathon season has finally ended so we are now able to announce our winners of the
Summer 2023 Leagues. It has been a really great summer of racing, with some fantastic turnouts at
the local events and our athletes picking up loads of prizes along the way. Whilst chasing points our
men and ladies have taken on various distances and race formats from 5k up to marathon as well as
taking part in our annual track and field championships which was a fantastic day out as usual (as
well as having bonus points on offer for being a club event). The inclusion of the Jim Young
Breakfast race was a popular one – again offering bonus club race points as well as the opportunity
to run around the fabulous Craufurdland Estate.

As outlined at the start of the season, points for each athlete’s 10 best (maximum) events were
considered, with a minimum of 7 events completed being required to be eligible for age group
prizes. We had a total of 53 ladies and 81 men scoring at least 1 point throughout the season which
is an improvement on last year (52 ladies and 72 men) – it’s great to see so many club members out
there competing.

Now the part you have all been waiting for – our well deserving winners!

Starting with the ladies, our winner for the 2023 Summer League is Amanda Bryden finishing on 125
points. In second place was Lauren Little with 110 points, and third place and 1 st U20 was Izzy
Caufield with 105 points. Unfortunately there were no further age group awards as the minimum of
7 events was not reached by otherwise eligible athletes.

For the men, our 2023 champion by some margin was Craig Ferguson who finished on 167 points. In
2 nd was Colin Anderson with 126 points – Colin also takes the V40 prize. In third place was Jonathon
Downey with 113 points – Jonathon is also the U20 winner. Other age group winners were Alasdair
Murray (V50), Michael Corson (V60) and Richard Beattie (V70) – well done all!

Prizes will be awarded to all athletes at the Annual Awards night in March – watch this space for
tickets. Huge congratulations to all of our winners, and indeed to all athletes who took part this
summer! The winter league is now well under way but it is not too late to get involved – keep an
eye out on social media for upcoming events.
