Seniors Christmas Handicap 19th and 20th December

Because of Covid Restrictions, this year’s Christmas Handicap will be a bit different! It will comprise a 5K marked trail race around the beautiful Craufurdland Castle Estate.

To avoid a mass start we are asking competitors to run as individuals / small groups and to start their run anytime between 10.00 and 12.00 on either Saturday 19th or Sunday 20th December. On completion of the race runners will collect a drink and a hot roll from the fantastic Lairds Table Restaurant with Christmas Wishes from the club. You can take this away or there is a covered outdoor eating area where you can relax and cheer on other club members. We are encouraging training groups to plan their own arrival times bearing in mind travel and social distancing restrictions. We are also happy to accomodate family groups provided any juniors are over 11 years. Parking is available at the Lairds Table with entry to the estate via the Fenwick Road.

Runners will need to record their own times and submit this to the marshal at the finish. Sealed handicaps will then be applied and prizes awarded to first male and female runner and the runner nearest their predicted time.

It would be great if runners entered into the festive spirit and ran with a bit of festive bling. If you wanted to raise some money for a good cause then you could make your run part of Ayrshire Cancer Support’s virtual Santa Dash. All the detail here –  https://www.ayrshirecs.org/events/virtual-ayrshire-santa-dash.

Craufurdland Estate is lovely this time of year…..but it is also really muddy!!! I wouldn’t wear my new trainers if I were you :-). You have been warned.

To allow handicaps to be calculated, just let me know if you plan to run by email here – Ian Gebbie  or by posting on the Club Facebook page.
