‘Roon The Country’ – Updated Points

The first cross country race of 2019 for the winter championships was Kilmarnock’s own open cross country event ‘Roon the Country’ on Sunday 20th January. In good preparation for the Nationals, the senior men and women both raced the same distance of 8500m. First in of the 9 men that raced for Killie was Gavin Hogarth, finishing 4th overall, with Robert Lindsay just behind in 5th. Of the 4 Killie ladies, Jennifer Beattie was in first, finishing overall in 7th position. Kilmarnock Men also took the team prize comprising of Gavin, Robert and Connell. Well done to all that took part, great running!!

For the Winter Champs points following ‘Roon The Country’, Gavin Hogarth takes the full 10 points but keeping his lead at the top is Connell Drummond, with John Speirs in second place and Richard Mair and Murray McDonald in joint 3rd place.

For the women Jennifer Beattie has caught up with Paula Wilson to be joint at the top, followed by Kirsty McNulty in 2nd and Amanda Bryden sitting 3rd.

Next race up for the winter champs is the national individual cross country championships in Falkirk on Saturday 23rd February. Entrants need to be Scottish Athletics registered for this event and entry fee is paid for by the club. Those interested in racing, please let your club captains know no later than Monday 4th February. Thanks
