Ron’s Runners 5k – Wednesday 24/04/2019

The Summer Championship continued with the second race of the season in the form of the Ron’s Runners 5k in Irvine on Wednesday 24/04/2019.  This is a popular race with the Harriers and 20 showed up to take part in the event despite a little bit of wind.

There were some strong performances from everyone involved with the race tonight.  Richard Mair and Craig Ferguson finished 1^st (16mins 18.5secs) and 3^rd (19mins 26.9secs) respectively.  On top of this the Harriers finished 1^st for the women’s team (consisting of Lindsay Johnson, Jacqueline McConnell and Kirsteen Havlin) and 2^nd for the men’s team (consisting of Richard Mair, Connell Drummond, David Moody and Paul Markac).  Congratulations to all of you on your fine achievements.

The Summer Championship tables have been updated.  Two races in and Amanda Bryden, Lindsay Johnson and Jacqueline McConnell occupy the top three spaces on the women’s table whereas Connell Drummond and Richard Mair occupy first and second on the men’s table and Craig Ferguson and John Speirs jointly occupy third.  The tables can be accessed below.

The next two races upcoming are the Babcock Dumbarton 10k on Thursday 16/05/2019, which can be entered via this link, and the Land O’ Burns 10k in Ayr on Wednesday 22/05/2019, which can be entered via this link.  Both are very enjoyable races and I do hope that you take part if you can.

This will be my last posting as the Men’s Team Captain.  Robert Lindsay will be taking over for the coming year and I wish him all the best in his new role.
