‘Raising the Bar’ Workshop

This workshop is aimed at those involved with and participating in disability sports in Ayrshire & Arran – disability sports athletes, clubs, coaches, volunteers and any other interested parties!
The programme will cover the following:
- Setting-up and/or developing a disability sports club.
- Becoming better informed on the legislation for providing sports for vulnerable groups –the ‘what’ and ‘how’.
- First-aid and disability sports awareness training.
This is an excellent networking opportunity with other disability sports enthusiasts!
The workshop is free to members of Ayrshire Sportsability or only £10 for non-members – refundable if joining on the day.

10.00am Registration & Coffee
10.15am Welcome and introduction of Ayrshire Sportsability – Dr Waiyin Hatton, Chair ASA
10.30am Guest speaker – Angie Malone, British Paralympian and World Champion Wheelchair Curler
10.45am Protected groups/Child Protection – Gordon McCormack, Glasgow Life
PVG information for clubs/coaches/individuals – Ann Ferguson, Volunteer Scotland
11.45am First aid training
1.00pm Lunch and Networking
1.45pm Disability Awareness training – Joan O Sullivan, Scottish Swimming Teachers Association
3.00pm Setting up and running a disability sports club – Redstar athletics
