New Volunteering Opportunities

Kilmarnock Harriers has developed over the years, with this development, the club have developed a number of dedicated coaches and leaders. These coaches and leaders assist the development of the membership, both young and older athletes.

At this time the club are looking to find other potential coaches to assist the club growth in the next few years, this is vital to the club growth and that of the athletes.

The role of our coaches and leaders varies and can be tailored to meet the needs of the volunteer, given their time commitment. All leaders are paired up with a qualified coach for a number of months, to give them an opportunity to explore coaching and leading at the arena.

All you need is a willingness to lead and a passion for helping people.

The rewards are truly amazing, seeing a young person develop in sport and in life generally, assisting someone achieve a new best performance, seeing that smile that means they have done what they set out to do.

As we have said, you will never be left to your own devices until you are fully trained and confident in your delivery. This can take as little as three months or as long as three years, the key in this, is the individual, we will provide the training and support, but you will move at your pace.

The club will be hosting a Leading Athletics workshop in September, if you would like to be considered for this three hour workshop, contact Jim Goldie on jgoldie1968@gmail.com

If any of our current Leaders are looking to take the next step into coaching, please speak to Jim, to ensure all paperwork is completed to get you onto a suitable Coaching Assistant course.

The above applies to any of our Coaching Assistants, who are interested in completing the Athletics Coach award.
