National Indoor U20, U15 & U13 Championships 2017

Emirates Arena 11 &12 February 2017

Athletes from Kilmarnock Harriers again travelled the well worn path from Kilmarnock to the Emirates Indoor Arena Glasgow to compete in their age group National Championships.

Under 20 Men’s age group:

Fraser Angus took Gold in the 200m over two tenths of a second ahead of the second placed athlete in a new PB of 21.81secs. Furthering his chances of being selected to represent Scotland in the Commonwealth Youth Games this summer.

Kieran Struthers a new member to the club ran 53.37secs in the 400m taking almost 3secs off his PB.

Jamie Nix undertook the Long Jump in a new PB of 5.55m and 11.16m for the triple Jump.

Under 15 Boys and Girls age group:

Jack Edwards claimed Gold in the 300m in a new PB of 39.19secs and was more than 1.5secs ahead of the second place athlete.

Sara Barbour won the Silver medal in the pole vault with a vault of 2.37m which she cleared first time. The bar was then moved up to 2.52m, 2cms higher than Sara’s recent PB of 2.50m. Unfortunately it was just too much to ask of her on this day but she is delighted with her Silver medal.

Abbie Smith run a new PB in the 60m of 8.89secs and also PB’d in the Shot Putt with 7.42m.

Caitlin Kelly ran close to her PB for 60m Hurdles in 11.37secs but was immediately rushing to get back to the start of the 60m sprint where she was disappointed with her time of 9.14secs.

Fraser Sproul the Kendal athlete who runs first claim for Kilmarnock in Scotland had a PB in the 1500m of 4.35.97mins and gained 6th place in the final.

Hannah Burn had a great performance in the 800m to reach the finals of the event. The finals have two fields of athletes over two races and the athletes have to run as if it is a time trial. Hannah ran brilliantly to win her race and claim 6th place overall.

Courtney Goodwin run a PB of 45.03secs in the 300m and Long Jumped a distance of 4.33m which was also a new PB for the event.

Under 13 Boys and Girls age group:

Dean Murray was competing in both the Long Jump and Shot Putt achieving personal bests in both with 4.02m and 6.84m respectively. Lottie Lambert who divides her training between a number events had entered the 60m hurdles in this championship and had a very competitive run in a time of 11.77secs.

A huge well done to all of these athletes for their performances.
