National 6/4 Stage Road Relays

Kilmarnock Harrier - News & Events

Seniors take to the National Stage in the Relays.

On Easter Sunday, a large number of Kilmarnock Harrier athletes ventured East, to Livingston for the annual National 6/4 Stage Road Relays.

So called by virtue of the fact that the Ladies consist of 4 athletes per team, while the Men have 6, the day is always highly competitive as a number of Scotland’s top runners are involved. The format of the day sees each runner complete a leg which is alternated between a short (3.15 miles) run, and a longer run (5.8 miles).

A hilly course, Kilmarnock did as well as they have in a number of years. The ladies fielded 2 complete teams and were pleased when the first string came home in a very respectable Top 10 position with highly decent performances all round.

In the Men’s event, Team A came home just outside the Top 10 in 11th, such a result at National level which bodes well for the future. Top performer, running the course for the first time, was Graham Cameron who also ran one of the fastest times of any athlete on the day, and shows the form which may well see him at the sharp end of the field in this month’s Lochaber Marathon.
