NAAC 10k

For us runners we are never happy with the weather. From the extreme winds at Marymass 10k to the soaring heat in the mid twenties at the North Ayrshire 10k that took place on Sunday 25th August. Eighteen Kilmarnock Harriers topped up their tan that afternoon to race the 10k.

Martin Brown took the overall win for the race in a time of 33:09 and takes the 15 points for the summer champs. Not far behind Martin and finishing 4th overall was Craig Ferguson in a time of 36:27. Jamie Nix picked up 1st place for the male junior category with John Speirs finishing first male v40 and Scott Martin first male v50.

For the women first in was Jacqueline McConnell finishing in 48:33 and takes the 15 points once again for the summer champs.

Well done to everyone that raced in such hot conditions.

Next Race on the calendar for the summer champs is the around Cumbrae 10 mile road race on Sunday 8th September at 2pm. This is also another Ayrshire Championship race. There are still places available so get signed up as it is pre-entry only at Entry Central

If you don’t fancy the 10 miler the club champs is also on the same day at Ayrshire Athletics Arena. This is a great club event to be part of and to even try something new if you haven’t participated in any track and field events before.
