Kirkmichael 10k and Roundup

Five Harriers took part in the Kirkmichael 10k on Saturday with some excellent performances on a hilly route. First Harrier home and 2nd male overall was John Speirs (38.19) continuing a fine sequence of runs in recent weeks. Jacqueline McConnell led the way for the Harriers ladies, finishing 2nd female in a time of 47.44 with Amanda taking 3rd in 51 minutes. Stewart McAllister finished in a very respectable 48.17 with John Speirs (v60) home in 51.20.

Jacqueline extends her lead in the Women’s table with Connell still out in front for the men despite not racing at the weekend – He was busy organising! See tables attached – Championship-Tables-2019-1 (1) (F)  Championship-Tables-2019-1 (1) (2)

Well done to everyone! Next up on the Club Champs calendar is the Brian Goodwin 10k on the 21st of June.

There were a few other races at the weekend with some fantastic performances across the country. Scott Martin compiled a post for FB which I have copied below –

Some outstanding results from the Seniors today, and one ok one.

In Edinburgh, making his Marathon debut, Martin Brown clocked a fantastic 2.42.57 which was all the more impressive considering the last few miles were into a strong headwind. I’m not on Strava, but massive Kudos for that one 👏👏👏

At the same race, Steven Robson got a personal best with 3.20 and huge 👍 to Steven too.

Also, Richard Mair was on the track at Aberdeen where he won the Scottish Masters 5,000 metres Championship. Again despite windy conditions Richard got a shiny new pb (track or road) of 15.02 so we now know what the next target is! Great running again.

Finally, on a lesser note yours truly clocked 36.53 at the last of the Badcock 10k Series in Shettleston and although not anywhere near as impressive as the above, it was good enough for 1st in my age category in a highly decent field, so more positive news for the Club.

On behalf of the four of us, a massive thanks to Jim and Colin for coaching us, and trying to get the best out of us all 😊
