Inclusive Athletics Workshops
scottishathletics is offering a three-hour workshop for coaches and volunteers interested in increasing their knowledge of working with athletes with a disability.
Information
This workshop is designed to increase participant’s knowledge of working with athletes with a disability. It will give participants a better understanding of Inclusion by using the Inclusion Model and Steps.
General information on the different disability groups will be delivered as well as coaching points and simplifying classification. The practical sessions, will cover the basics in Guided Running, Race Running, Seated Throws and Wheelchair Racing. On completion each coach will receive an Inclusive Athletics booklet.
Who is it for? For coaches and coaches helpers working in athletics clubs or run, jump and throw centres who have athletes with a disability or may have in the future. Ideal for coaches who have started their coaching journey and wish to know more about adaptation of events and Inclusion of athletes with a disability.
There are 2 courses running locally in November and these are open to all and free of charge
