Hurdling Scotland Session at Pitreavie Indoor Arena held on 3rd February 2013

Cara Baillie and Evie Bartl, U15, travelled to the East coast of Scotland to participate in a workshop organised by Hurdling Scotland. Hurdling Scotland are a group of hurdle athletes and coaches from across Scotland that work together to develop their understanding and enjoyment of the sprint and intermediate hurdle events, working to help athletes develop and progress in a fun environment. The sessions are open to hurdlers from any club and are completely free as Scottish Athletics is supporting these events financially.

Today’s session covered as usual warm-up drills and hurdle specific drills. With a view of preparing for the upcoming indoor championships, Hurdling Scotland invited a Scottish Athletics official (starter), which gave athletes a chance to practice their starts and running competitive over 3 hurdles. The starter also gave valuable information about false start, as from 1st April U17 athletes will be affected by the new false start rule, disqualification after 1 false start.

The next Hurdling Scotland session will be on 23rd March 2013 at the same venue.  Anyone interested in participating in any future events please contact the Group Administrator, Brian Winning, prior to the sessions at coachbri@hotmail.co.uk Further info can also be found on the following web site: https://sites.google.com/site/hurdlingscotland/home.
