Harrier in medal haul at Ayrshire Cross Country Championships

U15 girls team gold team prize

Kilmarnock Harriers athletes won a number of medals at Ayrshire Cross Country Championships held at Irvine Beach Park on 16th November. Young Harriers won a total 2 gold medals- Andrew Spencer (U11) and Caitlin McClounie (U15) and 4 bronze medals Scott Caldow and Claire Orr (both U15) and Angus and Lorne Kerr (both U17). There were also team prizes up for grab. This race was also part of the Kilmarnock Harriers cross country club championships and athletes were therefore motivated to compete well.

Andrew Spencer (U11) was crowned Ayrshire Champion in a time of 3.39, with his team mates Sam Lindsay (4.03) and Aidyn McMahon (4.04) winning the team silver. Emily O Shea managed an excellent 4th place and her team members Emma Stark (4.19) and Eilidh Ballantyne won the team silver medal. Kirsty Park (4.34), Lucy Glencorse (4.43) and Hannah Burn (7.27) were not too far behind.

The U13 athletes raced over 3000m and David Stark (U13) was the highest placer with 4th place in a time of 12.12 followed by Callum McClounie (12.51) and Alisdair Wood (15.06), the team won also the silver medal.

Killie XCPhoebe and Leonie McCutcheon showed again a strong run, Phoebe finishing 4th (12.51) and her twin sister Leonie (13.05) crossing the line in 6th pace, Sophie Rowan (13.16) was only 3 places behind and their fine efforts were rewarded with a team silver medal. Natalie Sharp (15.23), Erin Pastulovic (15.24) and Megan McKenna (15.25) completed the line line-up.

Caitlin McClounie repeated her success from previous years and was clear winner in the U15 category in a time of 11.58 followed by Claire Orr who won the bronze medal in 12.47 and Shona McBean (14.05), who was the third member to grab the team gold.

Scott Caldow won the bronze medal in U15 in a fine time 15.07 and his team mate Tom Nicol cross the line in 17.12.

Angus Kerr (U17) won the bronze medal for the 6000m course in a time of 22.29 and helped his team mates Stuart McClarty (24.07) and Terry Mulholland (28.03) to the team gold medal. Lorne Kerr was the only Harriers in the U17 girls category and won the bronze medal in a time of 17.46 for the 4200m course.
