Great Scottish Run

On Sunday 29th September TV and Radio presenter Jenni Falconer and Olympian and athletics legend, Sally Gunnell took on official starters duties to see off all those taking on the 10km and Half marathon in Glasgow city centre.

First of the morning was the 10k where Max Milarvie of Victoria park AAC was first in with a time of 30:50, with an excellent run from Kilmarnock’s Richard Mair, bringing him in second overall in a time of 31:17. Congratulations Richard!!

The overall female winner of the 10k was Gemma Steel of Charnford AC in a time of 35:29.

Seven other Kilmarnock Harriers took on the 10k course with some great results, which can be found below.

Shortly after the Half Marathon started, with an impressive 25 Kilmarnock Harriers taking part. Some were doing this for charity, helping friends complete and as training runs. Well done everyone!!

Overall winner in an impressive 61:29 for the half was Uganda’s Timothy Toroitich, with the fastest female, Edith Chelimo from Kenya breaking the ladies course record in 67:38.

Kilmarnock’s fastest man for the half was Martin Brown with another great run in a time of 01:12:29 and Aly Conquer being the fastest lady for Killie in a great time of 01:38:54.

Well done to all Kilmarnock Harriers who took on the 10km and Half Marathon, great to see so many doing it.

Also well done to all juniors that took part in the Junior race on the Saturday.
