Glasgow Yuletide Meeting

New PBs at traditional Glasgow Yuletide Meet and Auld Years Bash 4 young Harriers used a series of Open Graded Meetings, held on 27th December 2012 and 3rd January 2013 in the new Emirates Common Wealth Indoor Arena, Glasgow, to say goodbye to the old year and to welcome the New Year.

Their efforts in participating in a competition during this time of year were made worthwhile as all athletes proudly achieved new PBs. Mathew McAteer finished the year with a new PB in the 60m sprint (8.27), whereas Evie (U15) won her shot comfortably with a new PB (7.93m). The New Year meeting proved to be even better for the Harriers with Reed Wyper running a new PB in the 60m hurdles (9.64), Evie Bartl jumping 4.13m and hurdling 60m in 11.18. The performance of the day came from Cara Bailie, who showed nerves and composure and beat her previous PB in the high jump of 1.38m twice on the day, jumping to a new height of 1.45m. Cara’s achievement is even more remarkable considering that she started only last April her high jumping with a modest height of 1.20m. Well done to all athletes who represented the blue and white colours of Kilmarnock at these events.
