Dumfries Half Marathon 2019

Dumfries was the destination for the final race of the Summer Championship calendar with seven Harriers making the trip down the road for the annual Half Marathon.

In keeping with many of the races this year, the weather wasn’t at its finest with the athletes having to contend with a fair bit of rain.

David McLure ran another excellent race to take 2nd place overall in 1:18, and more importantly claimed 1st place in the Club Championships. Another v40 prize was claimed by John Speirs who finished in 1:22 and also took 2nd spot in the Club Champs. There was also another category winner in the shape of Brian McLure who took the v60 top spot. Scott Lyden ran a solid run in 1:35 with brother Mark running 1:44 to claim a season ending PB.

With David as winner, John in 2nd place, the only undecided spot in the Men’s table is 3rd which will be between Scott Lyden and Connell Drummond and any remaining Marathon times. Championship-Tables-2019(M)

Michelle Goldie was the fastest female Harrier on the day in a time of 1:53 with Jacqui Sandler finishing just on the 2 hour mark to round off her summer season with a PB.Championship-Tables-2019(F)

With only the Marathon times to finalise, Jacqueline McConnell takes the female prize with Amanda Bryden in 2nd place. Only 3rd remains to be sorted and is between Michelle and Jacqui.

Well done everyone! There’s been some fantastic performances this summer and with only a couple of Marathons to be completed it’s time to look forward to the Winter season and a new challenge. If you haven’t already, get your name in with the club captains for the George Cummings and West District Relays.
