Coach Qualification Dates

Scottish Athletics have now announced their coach qualifications for the next six months, with these courses now being live on their website, see the link below.

These qualifications are for any volunteer who has been assisting our coaches in delivering quality coaching to the young and not so young members. The start point of the qualifications is Coaching Assistant, this was called a UKA Level 1, and remains the first step on the qualification pathway. The course is delivered over one weekend, 9am until 5pm both days. The good news is, there is a course at Kilmarnock in November, see the link below.

The progression from Coaching Assistant is Athletics Coach, which requires more commitment in time, being run over four days. Every Coaching Assistant in the club can book this course, if they feel they are ready. The course delivery is one full weekend, then a single day (Event Group Specific), followed by an assessment day. Again, we are fortunate to have a course being delivered in September at the AAA.

If you have any questions on any of the qualifications, if the Scottish Athletics or UKAthletics sites do not explain, please speak to Jim Goldie.

If you are interested in completing any qualifications, please download and complete the booking form at the bottom of the Qualifications page, attach a passport photo and return these to Jim Goldie. If you are interested, the sooner you do this the better, we have had volunteers miss the course due to late paperwork. If you do not have a printer, speak to Jim Goldie, he will provide a form.
