Athletics Pathways Development Officer – Announcement

It is with great pleasure that the club would like to announce that Jim Goldie has accepted the Athletics Pathways Development Officer position starting in January next year.

For most within the club, Jim is a familiar face as he was previously an athlete, coach, volunteer and is also sometimes the voice behind the commentary and interviews at scottishathletics events. Jim has a proven track record of development. During Jim’s previous 8 years spell at Kilmarnock Harriers as Head Coach he re-developed the clubs junior membership at the old Scott Ellis track from 10 to 100 athletes. This tireless work set up an initial coaching structure which has grown further with the clubs excellent work undertaken in conjunction with our development officers in the Clubtogether project.

Jim Goldie has also held positions in South Lanarkshire Leisure Trust undertaking athletics development and more recently as the Coach Qualifications and Welfare Manager at scottishatletics. He has also delivered a significant amount of Coach Education and CPD courses so will be a great asset in terms of coaching knowledge and mentoring.

Over the next few months Jim will be periodically at the club getting to know you all before he takes up his role officially. If you could please make him feel most welcome as everyone will help the club develop a stronger and more prosperous Kilmarnock Harrier & AC.

A final thanks goes to the club trustee board, committee and scottishathletics for hosting the role. It is the ambitious and pragmatic approach taken by all that made this forward step possible.
