Christmas Day Park Run

It looked like Santa’s arrival had been delayed so I headed off to Pollock Park for my first Park Run of 2013.  Eileen, my wife and “honorary” Harrier whose normal exposure to running is managing the results service or helping out in the kitchen was also making her racing debut.

Despite me wearing my Santa hat and Eileen her reindeer antlers we felt distinctly under-dressed as many of our fellow competitors were dressed in full Santa suits, reindeers, gruffalos and super heroes.

Although there was a fair bit of water underfoot the route was clear of any debris from the adverse weather.

It was well into the 2nd circuit before I passed the reindeer and failed to pass several Santa’s  before finishing in 39th place in 21 mins.

Eileen was still in shock from the undulations of the Pollock park run route but managed a sprint to the line finishing in 32.56 and well inside her expectation of last place.

266 finishers enjoyed a great start to Xmas day – and by the time we got home Santa had been and gone.
