Great Edinburgh 10K

Post by Colleen Tait.
Congratulations to Kara Tait for her excellent 10th place finish in the Bupa Great Edinburgh Run today (Sunday 14th July).Kara, who had been chosen to represent the West of Scotland based on her strong 10k performances this season, finished in a time of 38.57 which put her in 10th place overall and ranked her as 2nd West athlete. Kara’s position also helped the West team secure 2nd place in the Inter-District team competition.

The Bupa Great Edinburgh Run starts and finishes in the grounds of Holyrood Park and is an event which includes a 10k and 5k race as well as a junior and mini run. The scottishathletics 10k Inter-District championships are incorporated into the elite race, meaning that Kara lined up against the likes of American athlete, Jen Rimes (two time Olympian and team silver medalist at the World XC Champs) and other top Scottish athletes. Despite not managing to hit her PB, Kara expressed her delight at having the opportunity to participate in an elite race and soak up the atmosphere of such well-known, popular event. Taking into consideration the hilly course and unusually hot temperature, Kara was right to be extremely pleased with her run.
