Virgin London Marathon 2013

Kilmarnock Harrier - News & Events

Killie Athletes join thousands in London.

On Sunday morning (April 21st), 5 Kilmarnock Harriers took to the streets of London as the World famous Virgin London Marathon took place.

With all having trained and raced well in the lead up to the race, each had their own goals, ranging from new personal bests, to the massive accomplishment of purely completing the event.

First Harrier home, and setting a new course best for himself was Les McDerment. Les ran 3.05.54, not too far outside his overall lifetime best for 26.2 miles, and was very happy indeed with this result. Leslie then had the pleasure of awaiting wife Liz complete the course for the second time.

Liz, running a superb new 5 minute personal best, clocked 3.42 and finished at the same time as new Member Tony Rodden who was running the event for the first time. Completing the line up was John Tougher who, despite suffering from cramp still clocked 3.47, while Mandy Nimbley superbly completed the course in a great time of 4.12.

Well done to all.
