Changes to Club Standards Scheme from 01/01/25

To motivate and encourage members to compete in races and to work and improve their times Kilmarnock Harriers and Athletic Club introduced a Club Standards Scheme where every member can gain an award graded Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Gold Plus.

The aim of the scheme is to give each athlete the motivation and focus to train for a specific goal. You do not have to an elite athlete to achieve these standards, but you will have to train to achieve the award.

To achieve the award, you must gain the required times in three separate distances within the calendar year.

If for example you achieve a Silver Standard in two distances and a Bronze Standard in one distance, you would receive the latter award. Only one award can be claimed in the year.
The times must be set on an officially measured course, and from 01/01/25 now includes track events. Training runs and Parkruns are not included.

To qualify, athletes must enter as a Kilmarnock Harrier and wear club colours.

From January 2025, the current model will change to age graded, which make it fairer to achieve. Age grading is an adjustment for a performance time based on age. The older you are, the bigger the adjustment.

Athletes will input, age, gender, distance, and time into an age graded calculator which will provide a percentage.

Standard as follows: Bronze 65%, Silver 70%, Gold 75%, Gold Plus 80%.

The grading factors are from the work of World Masters Athletics, and you can calculate your performance here: Masters Rankings Calculator

To claim you award email or present your results to the Awards Statistician at the end of the year. Once verified, you can look forward to receiving your award.

Any questions throughout the year can be directed to the Awards Statistician. (Russell.duncan@me.com)
