Covid 19 Temporary Restrictions

Kilmarnock Harriers have been looking at the changes to the Covid 19 restrictions, as set out by the Scottish Government on Wednesday 7th October., which will remain in place until 25th October.

There is no change to our current practices in relation to all athletes under 18 years old.

Any member 18 years + must always now physically distance whilst outdoors. This means that you must stay at least 2 metre from all other members. This will include on the track and any road running.

The club would ask that when using the same lane, coaches send the fastest runners first and leave at least a five-metre gap between athletes. Where running under 200m, please use alternate lanes, 1/ 3/ 5/ 7.

When on the road, the club would suggest at least 3m between athletes, to provide a buffer.

Linked to this, there will be no indoor access for anyone 18 years +, other than the coaches. Given the restrictions in place for indoor training, the club have decided that this option will not be offered over the next two weeks.

Where a group has athletes under and over 18, the adults (18 years +) must physically distance from all other members of the group whilst at the club.

The club would like to remind adult members that if you meet up for a run outside the club training times, you should always follow the government guidance on group size. You can meet up with one other household, up to a maximum of six people. The club does not condone larger groups meeting and breaching the rules.

All of the above restrictions should be adhered to at all club sessions, including the Dean Park and any long runs organised for Sunday mornings.

If any member is tested positive for Covid, they should follow the clubs guidance on reporting the positive test to the club. Please email the Covid Coordinator, JIm Goldie. Members should inform Test and Protect to contact the Covid Coordinator for registers and contact details for potential close contacts.

The club have now created a Covid-19 section on the club site. This is where you will find all relevant information on restrictions relating to club activity.
