Seniors Weekend Roundup 9th/10th October

This Saturday saw the start of the XC season, and 6 senior ladies and 14 senior men travelled to
Glasgow to take on a somewhat undulating course at Alexandra Park for the West District relays.
Despite the hills, conditions underfoot were excellent which led to some really fast times at the
sharp end of the fields and made for some exciting racing.

The ladies A team (Laura Haggarty, Kara McKenzie-Tait and Morgan McBurnie) finished an excellent
9 th place overall, with top 25 individual places for both Kara (15:51 and 22 nd ) and Laura (16:00 and
25 th ). The men’s A team (Martin Brown, Craig Ferguson, David Sherrington and John Speirs) were
16 th overall, with Martin Brown the fastest of the men in 27 th overall in 13:14. A huge well done
though to ALL athletes who put their toe on the line and represented the club this weekend.

On Sunday, 8 Harriers took on the tough multi terrain Hillbilly 10k at Dalmellington. First across the
line for the club was Paul Lafferty in 4 th place overall (43:07), and Josh Raeburn also secured a top
ten finish in 45:39 for 8 th overall. Also completing were Paul Black (50:56), Gordon Sandler (53:44),
Ken Monaghan (55:30), Les McDerment (56:59), Lynne McCaffrey (1:00.22) and Catriona Hastings
(1:16.56). A special mention must go to Les for running this race after representing the club at
Wests XC on the Saturday – huge effort Les!

This weekend coming we have the Ayrshire XC at Kilmarnock – entries close Tuesday 12 th so if you
haven’t signed up yet please speak to Robert or Jennifer ASAP.
